The latest highlight of the Seascoper is the peppy strap made of ocean plastic, which is produced by the Swiss company Tide Ocean SA on behalf of TITONI. The company founded by innovative entrepreneurs specializes in the collection and the upcycling of plastic in our oceans. The plastic is transformed into premium granules and yarns and used for our watch straps. Thanks to this cooperation, TITONI makes a valuable contribution to reducing the use of virgin raw materials. The environmentally friendly strap looks fresh and lively and ensures supreme wearing comfort.

THE ISSUE

Our oceans are suffocating with plastic pollution. Every minute one truckload of plastic ends up in the sea. Only 9% of the worldwide plastic is currently recycled. Solutions are urgently needed – otherwise the ocean will contain more plastic than fish by 2050.

To achieve the goal of cleaner oceans, #tide has created a global network. #tide organizes beach clean-ups, collaborates with social enterprises, pays fair wages to local communities and complies with ethical and ecological standards.

HOW IT'S MADE

The plastic is sorted, washed, shredded and transformed into the award-winning #tide ocean material.

SWISS KNOW-HOW

In cooperation with a branch of the Swiss University of Applied Sciences, #tide has developed a mechanical process that turns 100% ocean-bound plastic into a premium raw material.

CLEAN ENERGY

With this know-how and with clean renewable energy, the plastic is upcycled into a versatile granular material for injection or extrusion and finally into the yarn used for TITONI’s eco-friendly strap.
