On May 1, 2010 the doors finally opened for the long expected EXPO in Shanghai. The Swiss Cities Pavilion, which is sponsored among others by famous Swiss companies such as Novartis, Swiss Re and TITONI Ltd., chose the topic “Better Water – Best Urban Life” as its main message. The focus therefore lies on water management and environment protection, and the Pavilion wants to show that clean water is most important to humanity.
Mrs. Ruth Genner, Vice-Mayor of the city of Zurich, officially opened the Swiss Cities Pavilion on May 2. Also present during the ceremony were Daniel Schluep, CEO of TITONI Ltd., Switzerland’s Ambassador to China, Mr. Blaise Godet, and other representatives of the three biggest cities Basel, Geneva and Zurich. During his visit to Shanghai, Mr. Schluep also gave a few interviews to the Chinese media. Journalists were mostly interested in Titoni’s sponsoring of the Swiss Cities Pavilion.
As a Swiss watch brand, having been continuously available in China for more than 50 years, it was TITONI’s wish to become part of the first ever held World Exhibition in this country. The CEO also mentioned that the topic of the Pavilion is fully in line with TITONI’s basic philosophy “Better Quality – Best Consumers’ Benefit”. “The relatively simple but eye-catching Pavilion within the Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA) intends to communicate the same idealistic values as our own company, and we decided to become a partner immediately”, said Daniel Schluep during one of the interviews. – However, Titoni Ltd. will not do be engaged in any business activities at this special location, since it is a place to “share common values for all people who want to have a better life quality”.
Besides touring other pavilions on the Expo area, Daniel Schluep also took the chance during his stay in Shanghai to visit other famous spots in the Metroplis, such as the “Bund”, Nanjing Lu or the Creative Industry Zone on Moganshan Lu.
